At least, not intentionally.
To me, "sci fi" is that shlocky stuff like the bad monster movies the Syfy Channel runs on Saturdays, oversized critters and oversized disasters (and undersized talent). The stuff that gives true science fiction a bad name. As Harlan Ellison so delicately put it, "sci fi" is the sound of two crickets fucking.
I write science fiction and fantasy. Or sf/f. Or speculative fiction. Or even spec fic. I hope this blog will be a place to talk about such things.
I have other interests too, of course. I consider politics, like football, to be a fascinating spectator sport, even though I don't play it myself. I'm a devotee of Broadway musicals, particularly the work of Stephen Sondheim. I have a Bachelor's degree in Astronomy from UCLA. I enjoy surrealist art; one of my favorites is Belgian artist Paul Delveaux, whose women frequently wander around in a state of casual undress. I'll confess to enjoying naked women.
I watch a lot of television to relax, and confess I enjoy it.
The Scarlet Letter of atheism.I'm an atheist, and I get very upset at times over the complete stupidity of unthinking believers.
In fact, stupidity of all sorts gets me upset. I'll probably write about that sometime.
